The local rise.

There is a misconception that offshore production in particular products from China is always cheaper, easier and better compared to our locally produced items. However, this is just no longer the case.

Well before the COVID crisis, we had been seeing more of our local suppliers for Packaging and POS winning on price (and ease) when cross quoted against offshore suppliers. This shift seemed to be coming from increased labour, raw material and freight costs being passed on.

As the world recovers, we believe more of this production will be going to our local supplier but only if they remain competitive and don’t take advantage of the situation.

What’s everyone else’s thoughts on overseas production post COVID?
